Three of Wands
- Minor Arcana
- Suit of Wands
- Element: Fire
- Astrology: Sun in Aries
A figure in a red cloak stands on a cliff with their back to the viewer, flanked by three staffs, watching ships cross a golden sea below.
Number: 3: expansion, growth, first results
Check in on a project you launched a while ago and note what is genuinely moving, however slowly.
Upright
- expansion
- foresight
- progress
- anticipation
- momentum
The Three of Wands shows effort already underway and the first signs that it is working. It invites you to hold your long view steady while things develop, trusting that what you set in motion is traveling toward you. Patience here is active, not passive.
Reversed
- delays
- obstacles
- frustration
- narrow vision
- unrealistic timelines
Reversed, this card often shows up when progress is slower than hoped or when plans have run into friction. You may be looking too narrowly, or expecting too much too soon. Reassess the timeline and ask what is actually within your control right now.
In your life
- Love
- A connection may be growing in ways you cannot yet see; keep showing up and stay open to what develops.
- Work
- Early results are promising; keep your eye on the horizon and prepare for the next stage.
- Growth
- Trusting the process is a skill; practice looking at the long arc, not just today.
A question to sit with
What have I set in motion that I need to trust a little longer?
Affirmation
What I have started is unfolding in its own time.
